The Eastern Sierra Regional Clean Cities Coalition (ESRCCC), founded in 2000, is a public-private partnership whose mission is to promote:
- The use of renewable/alternative fuels such as biodiesel, natural gas, propane, ethanol, methanol, hydrogen and electricity,
- Alternative methods of generating electricity such as fuel cell, biomass, solar or geothermal,
- More efficient use of fuels through more efficient vehicles,
- Advanced vehicles such as hybrids and alternative fuel vehicles
The Coalition covers Washoe County, Northern Lyon County, Lake Tahoe, Carson City, City of Reno,
The Coalition works with public fleet owners such as school districts and transit agencies, and private vehicle fleet owners such as trucking or taxicab companies to assist them in obtaining grants and/or loans to help with implementing programs to adopt alternative fuels and improve equipment to increase efficient fuel usage.
ESRCCC consists of over stakeholder agencies, companies and organizations who have committed to implementing the goals of the coalition. Funding for the grants and contracts comes from the U. S. Department of Energy and other sources.
